| Customer Reviews for the MFJ-1664.
| From: Bobby L. Futch N4ZEN | I wanted to go mobile HF with as much simplicity as possible. I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with a built in hitch system so I knew this would be my mount point. I had already used Hustler antennas on another installation and was not real happy with the results. I saw the MFJ 1664 and decided this was the way to go. I ordered it from HRO in Atlanta along with a 72 inch whip. I did not want to use the telescopic whip for mobile use. I was really surprised at the quality of the product. Installation was a snap. I installed a Rancho shock boot to waterproof the winding area and it worked great. You can pick these up at NAPA for a few bucks and they come in differant colors. I used a mfj 259 and premarked each band segment. I marked the antenna with a permanent Sharpie pen and can quickly return to each band segment. I can cover all of 10,12,15,17,20 and 40 meters with a 1.7 or less swr. I was suprised that I didn't have to use an inducti-match or a shunt coil for 40 meter operation. This is a fantastic antenna for the price. If you are planning to use Hamsticks or Hustler loading coils, I would highly recommend that you consider the MFJ 1664 instead of the others. This is one awesome antenna for the money, you can spend a lot more and not have near the performance that this antenna offers. MFJ got it right with this one. And by the way, this is not a paid indorsement.
