Customer Reviews for the MFJ-1708.

From: Jerry w0wow
Have you ever been transmitting to a station and they have you 5/9 but when you go to receive them, you hear almost all static and noise, then switch to a different antenna like your long wire, or different band dipole and they sound PERFECT. S T O P switching back and forth, it's a nightmare. Hook up the 1708 and your problem is solved. It's easy to use, takes very little time, and automatically receive on a long wire, dipole or beverage type receive antenna, and stop the noise and static instantly. I use my 160 meter antenna to transmit, but depending on noise, I may use my 80 meter vertical for receive or my long wire to receive perfect. The amp loves the 160 meter 260 foot transmit antenna, but often the noise is crazy loud, but the 80 meter vertical will be quiet and I receive very loud signals without the noise. It's easy to set up, even with a amp in line. Use the same switching cable that turns on and off your amp, to switch the 1708 on and off between transmit and receive. I opened the case of the 1708 and mounted it directly on the wall behind the coax switch box, amp, and Versa Tuner V. I can now hook up the receive antenna in a few seconds. Or, if you are lucky, your receive antenna can be hooked up all the time and you simply transmit on the antenna of your choice. Not all rigs have two antenna jacks in the back, so here is your answer for receive antenna that works for you. w0wow - Jerry
