|The 1899T antenna is a perfect companion to the FT-817ND. |
With the antenna mounted directly to the radio, and a 16' counterpoise hooked to the ground screw on the 817, I was able to work stations all over the US on 20 meter CW. I was inside my house at the time.
Not bad for 2.5 watts and a 62 inch antenna!

|I have had no luck with this antenna. I think the enemy has been found and it is me. My problem has been the wander lead, it sort of, "wandered" off. I searched and found some 2mm banana jacks and bought a bunch of them. They work fine and now I have the 5 wander leads I made and the original one showed up. (of course) OK now I can get to work and set up the correct counterpoise and get this to work. |

|Fantastic antenna! I bought it originally to get into SOTA and ended up using it as my everyday antenna. I live in a HOA and am able to set up and take down this antenna quickly and easily. I'm running an FT-817ND with 5W and am able to make contacts up to 1700 miles away using psk31. Make sure you make the counterpoise in the instructions or you'll never get the SWR right. Some have said the length is not important but that's not true. Use the equation they give and it will work fantastically. |MFJ-4230MVPCOMPACT SWITCH PS, MTR/PP/4-16V ADJ. 110/220VAC$99.95
