Folkes N3WOH | Two MFJ-1954 10 Ft whips can be used to home brew a remarkably efficient modified dipole using a design published in the May 2007 QST article titled "A super Duper Five Band Portable Antenna". These 10 Ft whips plus a few other parts purchased at any local hardware store can be used with the MFJ-9420X to communicate worldwide .Using the MFJ-1954 in a dipole design along with the MFJ-9420X I have made many contacts world wide. This is an easy a relatively inexpensive way to delve into HF DX communications. I use a tripod setup installed permanently outdoors. The MFJ-1954 has survived at least one winter.
