Customer Reviews for the MFJ-1979.

From: Richard Folkes N3WOH
I used the MFJ-1979 with a coil described in an article at www.craigwilliams.com/radio/mobile/160meter/index.html to construct a 160 meter portable antenna. The antenna works well and provides acceptable performance on 160 meters.

From: Buddy WB4M
Unable to get mine to resonate on 20 meters, regardless of set up. No problem with 6m thru 17m though. Ad says 16.9 feet long, I measure mine and it is 17' 4" long (?). The 2nd and 3rd sections from the top have a tendency to slide back down into the next section unless you extend them fully. Collapses to around 27 inches, great for backpacking, camping, etc. Stainless steel and very lightweight. I read one report of the top section rusting but no sign of rust on mine yet even after being exposed to the salt air of the beach. Compare this whip to one of the Alpha portable verticals at $250 or mag loop at $350. One of the best deals in ham radio today.
