|I had one of these little radios, worked alot of DX when 6 was "hot". I absolutley loved it. Great reports too. When I sold it, the person I sold it to hooked it up to test equipment to see what the status was. They found out it was only putting out 3 watts! Before I sold it, and from the Chicago suburbs, I worked Nova Scotia, Wyoming, Texas, Arizon and Florida, to name a few. I worked Pennsylvania during a contest when I was mobile! I can only imagine what it would have done on the full 10 watts!|
I will recommend the 3 element Yagi antenna to go with it. That was my set up then. And if/when I get the chance, that will be my setup again.

|Prospective buyers of this product may be interested in how MFJ honors its warranty. After buying my 9406X, I was getting a great many fairly near contacts ( within 100 mi), but there was a lot of noise, more, I thought, than MFJ claimed in its product description. I sent them my rig w/ purchase proof and a nominal fee for return shipping. They checked it out and replaced the ladder filter, a probably costly item. The rig is now back in my shack minus a lot of the previous noise. Im satisfied MFJ lived up to their "no matter what warranty" If I had any criticism at all, it would be with the small back-home shipping fee. I had paid shipping on purchase, returned the unit prepaid, and therefore think the guarantee ought to cover the return shipping; that's a minor point, given my satisfaction, but an honest acessment.|MFJ-272
