| I purchased the MFJ-976 Transmatch in February of 2009. The 976 is dedicated to my 502 foot Horizontal Loop Antenna, fed with 450 ohm ladder line. This tuner is a battle ship and handles the Capacitive and Inductive Reactance that many others cannot on 160 through 10 Meters.|
The 31 uH roller inductor and four 500 pF air varibles handle any impedance match connected to this excellently designed transmatch. On a scale of 0 to 10, the MFJ-976 is a solid 10 performer.
It matches my loop on 6 Meters as well. I would recommend this transmatch to anyone searching for a quality unit capable of handling impedance matches, where others fail. My AL-811AH Amplifier with 572B finals has 800 watts output and the MFJ-976 runs cool. 73, Dick W0HXL

|After three years, I am very pleased with the performance of my MFJ-976 tuner. I have used it with several all-band antennas fed with 450 ohm ladder line - doublet, folded dipole, and loop. For each antenna, I made a "cheat sheet" in Excel of the settings which provided the closest match to 50 ohms (using the MFJ-269 analyzer on the tuner input.) I run 800 to 1000 watts (from AL-80B amp) through this tuner with no problems - even with a 25 foot run of "shielded twin lead" (two parallel pieces of RG-8X) between the tuner and the exterior ladder line. Just be sure to provide a good RF ground and route the ladder line away from metal objects - then prepare to enjoy that all-band wire antenna.|
